Erected by Lord Combermere and built by George Smith & Company Sun Foundry Glascow on the 29th of March 1883. The clock and drinking fountain originally built in honour of Thomas B.H. Berkeley who died December 6th, 1881 has become a recognizable icon in the centre of asseterre. He was recognized by his peers as a planter, St. Kitts legislator and president of the General Legislative Council of the Leeward Islands Federation. His love for St. Kitts and his concern for the welfare of its people motivated him to contribute to the countries improvement. |
