What’s up party people? It’s your girl Fashionista coming through with the 411 on the hottest events happening in and around St. Kitts. Last Saturday it was the finals for the Kittitians Got Talent Singing Competition held at Club Kactus. It promised to be a show showcasing great talent from the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, and proved to be just that.
I arrived at the show late which was scheduled for 7 p.m. however, lucky for me the show had not started as yet. I took a seat and had already began to feel the vibes as we were entertained by the hearty mix of DJ Ruff House Soundz. They rocked us until 9 p.m. the approximate time the show started. Magic Man from the ‘love’ station Kyss FM introduced the MC of the night the eclectic ‘Sister in Spirit’ Marlene Lee.

She gave us a little history on the show and enlightened the crowd on the prizes, thanked the judges and praised the brainchild of the competition Sudine ‘Sudiepop’ Clarke. Whom she said was not only young in age but a visionary at heart.
After all was said it was time for the performers to showcase their talent as the seven finalists took to the stage one after the other. The first round was done in an ‘a-cappella’ style where each contestant sang various choices of hit songs. While round two was done with musical background with each contestant singing an original piece.

| Second Runner up of Kittitian Got Talent, Samantha Canwood | It was interesting to see how well they composed their songs with lyrics and musical background in just the space of one week. I thought the songs were extremely well put together.
Each contestant stood out in there own unique way but the most memorable acts of the evening were Mellissa a.k.a. Melbo who not only sang well but entertained as she made sure that you felt her presence on the stage.
Young G who was the second runner-up touched the crowd and commentators with his powerful lyrics performing two original songs. While first runner-up Samantha captivated everyone with her spiritual presence and soothing voice giving meaningful messages in her music and even before or after her performance.

Dwayne Thompson, the winner of the first ever Kittitian Got Talent charmed his way into the ladies hearts sounding as lovely as a humming bird.
He left the commentators speechless as he did two beautiful songs, “Hello “and “Every time it Rains” which is an original piece. Overall I would say that Miss Sudiepop’s vision of Kittitian Got Talent turned out to be a great success and we look forward to the growth of the show in the years to come.
