BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – HAVE you ever seen a hat or an entire outfit made out of hair? Well, if you have not, soon you will be able to see all this and more when local hairstylist Denise Kelly of Angel’s Beauty Salon hosts her major event dubbed “Lights, Camera, Hair Fashion!”
According to Kelly, the event is slated for November 15 at the Royal St. Kitts Hotel and Casino (www.royalstkittshotel.com) and is a movie-themed hair fashion show which would stage award winning Hollywood hairstyles that are hip and trendy from as far back as the 1960s.
Along with the creativity of Kelly, other local hairstylists including Sharon Johnson and Carol Rouse will also be showcased, along with a barber and make-up artist Ziz-rie of St. Maarten.
Kelly said work has already begun on some of the hairstyles for the show and she is really excited about it because the ideas have never been done or seen in the Federation.
She has been in the hair styling industry for the past 15 years in St. Kitts and the United States, and is also one of the masterminds behind many of the wonderful hair styles women have been sporting in St. Kitts.
Her salon was established seven years ago and is known to be one of the best in the Federation. Kelly intimated that she is still looking for additional hairstylists to participate in the show.
“I chose Johnson and Rouse to work hand-in-hand with me on this event because many of the hairdressers in St. Kitts do not want to work together; whereas, myself, Johnson and Rouse would share ideas,” she said. “I am looking for positive people who would work together to make the show a success.”
