BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Reigning National Calypso Queen, Tonicia Martin a.k.a. Queen Anastasia, has released her Independence tune for the upcoming Silver Jubilee Independence Calypso Competition.
The three-peat Female Bacchanal winner told SKNVibes that the song is entitled 'God give us strength' and was recorded at the Ball-A-Karn Studio in Nevis and produced by Jazzique Chiverton.
“The song is saying God gave us strength to pull through the last 25 years of Independence and it is also saying that I want Him to give us more strength for the future,” she said. “The country has its problems but with the help of God we’ll make it through. That’s basically what the song is saying.”
The competition is scheduled to be held at Carnival Village from 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16.
Martin said entering the competition was her patriotic duty as a calypsonian and the anniversary should be celebrated in unity.
“I entered the competition in light of our Independence, as I thought it was my patriotic duty to be a part of the celebrations. It is my humble and heart-felt belief that we all should come together for this milestone and celebrate in unity despite political and or any other affiliation.”
God Give us Strength is an upbeat soca-style song that encourages people to amalgamate in dance and celebration.

No matter what anyone say. One thing we can always count on is that Queen Anastasia is vibrant, and fun to look at. Petty people stop hating...she is right. It really good that only God can judge us.
