their talent once more with the people who will be attending the festival.
One question was raised about modern artistes with explicit lyrics in their songs that are vulgar and also encourage actions that would have a negative impact on many young people.
A representative from El-A-Kru said sometimes there is a lot of pressure on the artistes and they are not always the ones to blame when something goes wrong, while Shurwayne Winchester spoke of the positive vibes soca music give off, which is pure energy, and also gets social ideas across along with educating the young people.

He mentioned that Maximus Dan, another Trinidadian soca artiste, was very good at taking music and send off a positive message in his songs.
Shadow offered words of wisdom to the younger generation who may wonder how it is that he has been involved in music for so long.
“The generation to come should not try to follow our style, but listen to what is going on and create their own thing and this is what will keep them in business for a long time. That is what I had to do,” he said.
“We need to keep moving together as one people and something positive would happen,” he added.
The press conference was hosted by Juni Liburd, who thanked the Thursday night’s artistes for attending the festival.
The show kicks off at 8:00 each night and a nightly fee of EC$135 is required for entry.
