Robbery leaves six women dead in fire

    BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – RESIDENTS and family members in Barbados as well as sections of the corporate community were left in shock on Friday (September 3) after six women were killed in a fire.

     

    According to news reports by the Barbados Free Press, two men after they had robbed the Cam-pus Trendz store located on Tudor Street, set fire to the two storey building trapping the six victims inside.

     

    The six victims were said to be 18-year-old Pearl Amanda Cornelius, 24-year-old Kelly Ann Welch, 18-year-old Shanna Griffith, Nikita Belgrave and Tiffany Harding who are both 23 and 24-year-old respectively and  Kellisha Ovivierre .Some of  the persons who perished in the fire were employees of the store while others were customers. 

    According to a police report out of Barbados posted by Stabroek news “The two robbers, in view of shocked customers, threw an incendiary device into Cam-pus Trendz just before 7 p.m., after taking an undisclosed amount of cash.” 

    One woman was also treated for several cutlass wounds to her body.

    The crime is being described as a heinous one and one of Barbados’ worst human tragedies ever.  Many other persons have been voicing their opinions and sadness of the situation on various websites and radio stations.
