BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE are searching for a young man who last night (Mar. 26) robbed their Commissioner’s wife while she was on her way to the LIME-sponsored ZIZ 50th Anniversary Calypso Competition at Carnival Village.

Information reaching this publication states that shortly before 9:00 p.m., the Commissioner’s wife was walking north along Victoria Road to attend the calypso competition. However, while approaching Seaton Street, a young man dressed in a hooded sweatshirt snatched her handbag and ran away with it.

Fortunately, she did not receive any injury during the brief encounter.

An alarm was raised and shortly after a number of officers from the Basseterre Police Station were seen combing the area in search of the bandit.

SKNVibes also learnt that the handbag had contained an undisclosed sum of money, a cellular phone and other personal items.
