By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LESS than 18 hours after the lifeless body of 15-year-old Unique Browne was discovered in the C.A. Paul Southwell Industrial Site area, a man was this morning (Apr. 4) shot to death on the basketball court in Dorset Park, Soho Village, Basseterre.

Dead is 26-year-old Bijorn ‘Bush’ Richardson of Wellington Road, an employee of the Parks and Beaches Unit.

On arrival at the scene, SKNVibes found police officers were conducting investigations while the covered body of Richardson was lying on the center of the basketball court.

This media house learnt that while Richardson was weeding grass within the Park, a masked gunman entered from the northern gate and shot him multiple times to the body.

According to Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Vaughan Henderson, at about 8:20 a.m., police received a report about a shooting in Dorset Park and officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and various other departments responded immediately.

Henderson confirmed that Richardson was shot by a masked gunman and also the direction from which he entered the Park. He noted that Richardson was pronounced dead at the scene by District Medical Officer Dr. Reginald O’Loughlin.

“The Coroner was contacted and permission was given for the body to be removed to a funeral home, and an autopsy will be performed at a later date to determine the exact cause of Richardson’s death. Investigations into this matter are ongoing,” Inspector Henderson said.

Meanwhile, this media house had witnessed the arrival of one of Richardson’s sisters who had to be consoled by a Woman Police Officer after seeing the covered body of her brother lying on the basketball court.

Richardson’s death brings to five the total murders recorded in the twin-island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis for the year.

The first was that of Devon Morton of Upper Monkey Hill, St. Peters, who died at the JNF Hospital 15 days after he was shot by two masked gunmen in Mc Knight on the night of Monday, January 10.

The second murder was that of Sean ‘Tegroman’ Brazier (38) of Pitcairn Street, Newtown, who was shot multiple times to the body sometime after 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5.

And the third was that of 29-year-old Quincy Liburd of Newcastle, Nevis, who was shot multiple times to the body in Conaree on Sunday, March 13, while 15-year-old Unique Browne was killed yesterday.

Her partly nude body was discovered shortly after 3:00 p.m. lying on the eastern side of the building that houses Eustace Hobson & Associates in the C.A. Paul Southwell Industrial Site area.

According to an investigating officer, her body bore signs of violence, as blood was seen on the head and the upper region of the chest, but “we are unsure if she was shot or if the wounds were inflicted by an instrument. However, the post mortem will reveal what caused her death”.

To date, no one has been arrested in connection with these murders but police stated that investigations are ongoing.
