BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THREE young men were today (Apr. 13) remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison after being charged with the murders of Laustin Jamie ‘Big Ship’ Williams and Bijorn ‘Bush’ Richardson.

According to the Police Press and Public Relations Officer (PRO), Inspector Vaughan Henderson, Jahari ‘Baddie’ Bart (19) and Kelroy ‘C-Face’ Hazel (22), both of St. Johnson Village, were jointly charged with the murder of Williams, while 25-year-old Kevis ‘Yellow’ Riley of George Street, Newtown was charged with the murder of Richardson.

The PRO told SKNVibes that Bart was formerly arrested and charged at approximately 2:35 p.m., while Hazel’s arrest and charge followed some 15 minutes after. Both men’s arrests and charges were instituted at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

He further said that Riley was formally arrested and charged sometime this afternoon also at the CID, and the three murder accused appeared before a city magistrate and were remanded to prison.

Williams (26), the son of Commissioner of Police Austin Williams and his wife Laura of Bay View Gardens, was killed after being shot multiple times to the body while in an abandoned yard in Buckley’s Estate shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2011.

An autopsy performed on Williams’ body by Barbadian Forensic Pathologist Dr. Stephen Jones revealed that he died as a result of gunshot injuries to the head, chest and abdomen with haemorrhage and shock.

The 26-year-old Richardson of Wellington Road and an employee of the Parks and Beaches Unit was shot to death on the basketball court in Dorset Park, Basseterre at about 8:20 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2011.

Dr. Jones also performed an autopsy on his body, which revealed that he died as a result of gunshot injuries to the neck and chest with haemorrhage and shock and cervical spinal injury.

According to Inspector Henderson, the High Command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force thanked the public for their support in the arrest of the three murder accused.

“The High Command of the Police Force extend sincere thanks and appreciation to the general public for their much valued assistance in the arrests of the three accused. The High Command are also calling upon the general public to continue to work closely with the police to help bring a speedy resolution to the recent upsurge in serious crimes. And the police and the community must remain committed in working together to achieve this goal,” the PRO said.
