BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUST four hours after Jermaine Wilkinson was shot in Connell Street, McKnight, gunmen attacked and shot a Pond’s Pasture resident in front of his home.

Following information which led to the eastern block of Newtown, SKNVibes learnt that Damian Weekes of Molineux Street, Pond’s Pasture was shot around 12 noon today (June 4) near to a garbage bin to the front of his residence.

Investigations revealed that while a bread delivery van was parked in front of Weekes’ home, in the vicinity of Beacon of Hope Kingdom Community Centre, two men on a bicycle approached and one of them fired a shot at him.

The bullet struck Weekes to the side of the upper part of his body and he immediately ran through the yard of the second building south of his home, while the gunman gave chase and fired two more shots, but he did not hit his intended target.

Weekes escaped the gunman’s wrath by climbing over the western fence of the yard and running to the home of a female friend.

One of his neighbours, who claimed they have been residing in that area for some 32 years and had never experienced any violent activity there, called 911 and Weekes was transported to the JNF General by a unit from the Emergency Medical Services.

This has been the fifth shooting incident in a matter of six days that have left six men seeking medical treatment at the JNF General Hospital.

Shortly before 9:00 a.m. on Monday (May 30) Adrian ‘Mac 1’ Stringette (20) of Neverson Street East, Newtown was shot while at a public pipe at the junction of James Street and Manchester Avenue in Newtown.

Two day after (June 1) at approximately 7:30 p.m., 27-year-old David ‘Dibaloo’ Thomas of Buckley’s Estate was shot in both legs in the vicinity of the railway in that community.

Last evening, at about 6:30, Kurt Lucas (21) of Ponds Extension, Newtown and 22-year-old Kenville Finch of Phillip Street, Ponds Pasture, Newtown were shot in the vicinity of Mad House Alley in Newtown.

And shortly before 8:00 this morning, Jermaine Wilkinson was shot four times to the body.
