BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN early morning shooting in Cayon has left two dead and six injured.
Desroy ‘Shootout’ Walwyn and Trevon ‘Waxy’ Francis, both of Upper Cayon, were this morning (Nov. 30) shot to death in Dunns Cottage, Cayon in the vicinity of Henry’s Night Spot, Disco, Bar and Restaurant.
Six others were also injured during what one resident described as indiscriminate shooting, and, according to unconfirmed reports, a female was among them. She is believed to have been shot in the leg.
One of the injured men is said to be a resident of Molineux and was teaching in St. Martin while another is from Basseterre.
On arrival at the crime scene, SKNVibes learnt that at approximately 3:15 a.m. residents were awakened to the report of gunfire in the area. A large pool of blood was visible on the sidewalk within proximity of Henry’s Night Spot and another was seen on the concrete stairway leading to the Main Street, while a long trail of blood was also seen on the sidewalk going in a westerly direction as if the injured person were running to safety.
One resident said that while a party was in progress at Henry’s Night Spot, many young men and women had congregated on the sidewalk and roadway when the first barrage of gunfire was heard.
“One of the dead men was close to Big Lice’s car and he was the first to be shot. It seems as if they came through the alleyway, secreted themselves behind the concrete wall and ambushed him.
"I understand that he was using the car as a shield, but the gunmen were not deterred as they shot up Big Lice’s car to get to him. He ran but he did not get far and he fell down on the sidewalk where he died on the spot.
“The other one was talking to a woman next to a car owned by Big Lice’s neighbour. He was shot while there and fell on the car. I believe he is the one whose body was found on the concrete stairway leading to the Main Road. This shooting was movie-styled and the gunmen’s intention was to kill those young men because they all had multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies.
"The one on the stairway had about three gunshot wounds to his neck and many more to other parts of his body including his chest. Another man, the one from Molineaux, ran in the direction of Upper Cayon after he was shot. I think he was shot in the leg,” the resident said.
The proprietor of Henry’s Night Spot confirmed that he had a party but could not have provided additional information, because, as he said, “many people were in the Disco and we were unaware of what transpired until someone informed us”.
Henry also stated that he is in sympathy with the bereaved relatives and, like many other residents, is calling on the police to make their presence felt in the area by intensifying their patrols.
A female resident recalled an earlier shooting incident within the same vicinity and is pleading with the security forces “not to allow this negative influence to take root in our community”.
This media house understands that the injured were taken to the Joseph N France General Hospital where two were treated and discharged and the other four are warded.
Police are investigating.
The two men’s death brings to 22 the total number of homicides committed in the twin-island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis for the year, surpassing the record high 17 in 2006.
why do you think these shooting and killings are continuing? Is it because the true perpetrators usually get away with committing the crime here in st.kitts while others are put in prison to rot away paying for their crimes. and the sad thing is most of our police officers are not mentally equipped to deal with the challenge or maybe they just don't care. however how sergeant tyson and officer bergan and many others who work in d area where this crime commit handle their duties leave a lot to be desired and is quite horrible in most if not all casess.
PEOPLE WELCOME TO LITTLE JA.....A PURE SHOT A FIRE
When i heard what happened i didnt really believ it until i went on Sknvibes today and she ur guys pic and it hit me and tears come to my eyes ,Lordy Des was a person u would want to be around ,he will make u laugh ,thats the kinna person he was ,i can just see him now smiling and he had a joy for life so i know he went down fighting ,Sorry u guys had to go like that ,Des wish i can see u smile again,One love......RIP Shootout and woxy
I remember when SKN was such a peaceful place....we could've practically go anywhere without having to look over our shoulders....We could leave our house wide open and not wonder who going thief de whole house.....Now look at where we stand now!!!NOWHERE.
You all here blaming all kinds of ppl before u all take the time out to pay respect to the dead and the families they left behind....
And try coming up with a solution to get SKN back to the way it was....that's if it could ever........
Travon....u were a great classmate and u are going to be missed....Desroy....u were a dear friend and u too will be missed.......Now to all the negativity here.....you all are just blaming someone for all that has been taking place in Little SKB (or little Jamaica...call it what u may) without even taking the time out to see what is really going on. You all think laying blame on one another is going to help solve anything?.....WE all need to stand for something or else we'll fall for nothing....
oh well needs to find out his/her information before he/she bang he/she mouth.Shootout didnt come around from gang and from voilence so dont talk before u get ur facts str8. ppl need to open the book and read the pages and stop judging the book by its cover and shut up wen they aint got nuttn good to say
So many fallen soldiers..when will this thing end?..I guess when there is no one left to take out..thats all i could say..Des and Trevon..u will be missed!!
When we see these things we have to look up because our redemption draweth nigh. Be ready! People be ready!Lord have mercy on Our Land of Beauty.
Its sad what happened to those guys & the others, but its been yrz tht shoot outs,drive-bys & wounding fights has taken place at this disco. For some reason...more & more ppl keep going to this specific night spot,it could have happen anywhere yes,but i think tht the ppl of SK should be more caution of where they go,especially if there is a Well Know History! R.I.P & may God help us all. Peace^_^
Ok that person commented and say the victims never shoot nobody but why would one call himself "shootout" well i guess u live by your name u die by it then. You all need to stop blame the police because they are all humans. It's not like they have superman powers. These mothers, fathers, girlfriend, boyfriends, brothers, sisters, neighbours and friends need to open they mouth and get these guns off the streets.
St. Kitts is becoming a very scary place. Has the "LAW" lost its STING on the concious of these perpetrators?!?!?!? Maybe it's because these perpetrators feel they are above and beyond the "LAW" making them invincible to SANCTIONS .
If we are to return to the "once-ago" HAVEN that St. Kitts was, LAW OFFICIALS MUST go about ENFORCING these LAWS by EXECUTING PROPER SANCTIONS to law breakers!! Civillians must also do their part by providing information, if they have any, about law breakers!
i am so sorry that these guys had to go out like that.....what the hell is wrong with these police...why aren't they doing there job....innocent people are getting hurt and nobody seems to care....but on the real i think that they need to close down that disco....
" These are some serious times; all I could see 'round us is just violence and crimes."
"Full time for us to centralize..." As a Kitttian in
NYC, many times my friends often plead with me to come home for vacation (which I usually do). They would tell me come 'Home' and come out of 'Babylon'.
NYC is tough yes, but when you get news like this;
it hits 'Home' harrrrd! To my family back home, walk on, no matter the situation, pray and let God take care of evil doers. No run wid de gun ting!
ANOTHER ONE GONE AGAIN!!!!!
why dey cant behave them selves
its upsetting to hear ppl say u like by the sword u die by it bcoz none of those men that died as ever accused of killing any one and to see how they were brutally murdered and innocent ppl were hurt who ever did this crime needs to be put to death no if buts nor maybe's about that. this is not time for revenge coz the war will never end ppl need to start praying and the police need to start doing there jobs. st.kitts is not getting any better .its time to take a stand
i think thta the disco need to be closed and the police need to improve their facilities and hire some undercove police men
why is all these shooting going on in little skb.
YEA, who to blame now? Police? i dont think so. blame all of you who knows who have guns and where they are and refuse to tell the Police. Police could only do as much, crime fighting is a community responsibility and not just Police. wake up people. be informers and many lifes may be spared. dont u think?
the stkitts and nevis police a nasty all they care about in weed they would not do anything about gun shoot at all cause a nevis police man say he aint care cause the young fools making his job easyer for him and lest people to run ofter.
This truly truly truly brings tears to my eyes! I am in utter shock! But God does not sleep! I strongly believe that and no car or wall can hide no man from the wrath of God! What are people living for? The devil has taken over their bodies and is controlling their souls! Young men stop being cowards. Be a leader dont let guns lead you as they so obviously are! Find something to live for, dont give your energy to the negative! I refuse to settle and become accustomed to this! How do YOU sleep?
my gettoe aint the same no more ,may u'll rest in peace god is in the mids of everything ,WOXY AN SHOOT OUT BLESS UP
sorry that those fellows had to die and others injured. but the bible state ' you live by the sword, you die by it'. however you live thats how you die, but ubfortunatly other get cought in the cross fire. may god have mercy on our country. am not sorry that they are dead, less worry.
