Caribbean and British Prime Ministers meet on Tuesday

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 21ST 2006 
Issues ranging from economic reform, Europe's sugar protocol, social justice, security and stability and HIV/AIDS are on the agenda at Tuesday's Working Luncheon of Caribbean leaders and Britain's Prime Minister, the Right Hon. Tony Blair.

St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister and CARICOM's lead spokesman on HIV/AIDS and other health matters, Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas, who left here Sunday for London, on his way to the Commonwealth Heads of Government in Malta, will lead on the issue of HIV/AIDS.
 
Dr. Douglas is also expected to express his nation's views on the closure of the sugar industry as a result of the European Union planned proposals for reform, which will be led by Guyana's President, His Excellency Bharrat Jagdeo.
 
During the meeting at No. 10 Downing Street, Prime Minister Blair's Official Residence, CARICOM Chairman and St. Lucia Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Kenny Anthony, will make a brief presentation on Europe's Role in the World.
 
Barbados Prime Minister, the Right Hon. Owen Arthur will lead on Ecomomic Reform including the Doha Development Agenda and Social Justice. Jamaica Prime Minister, the Most Honourable P.J. Patterson leads on Africa and the Prime Minister of Belize, the Hon. Said Musa on Climate Change.
 
Prime Minister Blair and the Caribbean leaders will also discuss the UK-Caribbean Forum Framework for the next Biennium.
 
A proposal by Canada for the Commonwealth Heads Meeting to address the issue of "The Responsibility to Protect," will also be discussed with the British leader.
 
CARICOM's Secretary General His Excellency Edwin Carrington is also expected to attend the meeting.
