Montserrat’s New Governor to be sworn in on April 8

    BRADES, Montserrat (March 31, 2011) – Montserrat’s Governor (designate) Mr. Adrian Davis and his wife Mrs. Su Davis will arrive in Montserrat on the morning of Friday 8th April 2011 at the John A. Osborne Airport.

     


    After being met by Government officials, Mr. and Mrs. Davis will drive to Government House to prepare for the swearing in ceremony at a specially convened meeting of the Legislative Council at 2 pm at the Montserrat Cultural Centre.

     


    Mr. Davis was born in London and trained as an economist before joining the then Overseas Development Administration (ODA) in 1974, after serving for two years as a VSO in Fiji. When the ODA became DFID, Mr. Davis had many overseas postings including Bangladesh, Thailand, Egypt, and the Philippines, where he was the UK Representative to the Asian Development Bank. For the last seven years he was based in Beijing in China working on the impact of China on international development issues and overseeing the DFID programme there as well as in Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam.

     


    In his London postings, Mr. Davis has focused on information technology policy and operations and on environment & sustainable development issues including climate change.

     


    Mr. Davis and his wife have two adult children, both happily married and living in Switzerland and Southern China respectively. They have one grandchild.
