    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, DECEMBER 6TH 2006 - (CUOPM) - St. Kitts and Nevis' new Permanent Representative to the United Nations,  His Excellency Delano Frank Bart, has presented his credentials to the UN Secretary General His Excellency Kofi Anan.

     

    Mr. Bart, who replaces His Excellency Dr. Joseph Christmas, is the former Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs and served as a member of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly from 1995 until his retirement in September this year.

     

    He has represented the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis in several cases before the Courts including the Privy Council in London.

     

    Mr. Bart was Assistant Counsel to the Bahamas Commission of Inquiry from

     

    1993 to 1994; a Member of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat and the Caribbean Association of Regulators of International Business (CARIB).

     

    He has attended several Meetings of the Ministers of Defence in the Americas; the CARICOM/Cuba Summit with President Fidel Castro; Commonwealth, OECS and CARICOM) Summits.

     

    ~~Adz:Right~~Mr. Bart practiced law at the Bar of England and Wales from 1973 to 1995 and has also practiced at the Bars of Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda and St.

     

    Kitts and Nevis and has held membership at Lincolns Inn, the St. Kitts and Nevis Bar Association and the OECS Bar Association.

     

    He taught at the Molineux All Age School from 1970 to 1972 and was a Part-time Lecturer in law at the College of Distributive Trade, in London in 1972.
