Governor General Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian Cutting Ribbon to open Kittitian Expo 2007EXPO RIBBON CUTTING
Basseterre, St. Kitts - A number of new companies that have recently opened their doors for business in St. Kitts will be among the line -up of enterprises confirmed to participate in next month’s second edition of the local trade fair, known as Kittitian Expo. According to organizers, these new companies are involved in a wide range of activities including architecture, financial services, media operations, entertainment, computer sales and online bills payment services.
Among those that will be involved in the expo for the first time are Global Solutions, Caribbean Regional Developers, PeterKn, St. Kitts Agro Processors Cooperative, Toucan Sounds, RBTT Bank and Pay KN Limited.
This new blend of businesses will mix with the products and services that are offered by some of the more established corporations that will also be using Kittitian Expo to showcase their latest in telecommunications, insurance, banking, manufacturing, security services, food supplies, healthcare, Cable Television, Internet Services, clothing and photography.
This year, the two day trade fair will be launched by the Governor General of St. Kitts & Nevis, His Excellency Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian. Similar to the inaugural event in 2007, the Governor General will cut the symbolic ribbon to declare the expo open, following an official ceremony planned for the morning of Friday 7th November, at the Saba Room of the St. Kitts Marriott Resort in Frigate Bay.
Organizers have expressed their satisfaction to once again have the active support of the Head of State in this important fair that was created last year to help local companies of all types and sizes, to expand their market-base and benefit from much needed public and media exposure. Other senior government and private sector officials have also been invited to participate in the expo’s official opening program.
Other companies that will be on the floor of the exhibition hall this year, are Cable & Wireless, DHL Worldwide Express, National Caribbean Insurance, Sun Island Clothes, UTS-Cariglobe, The Cable, Liamuiga Security & Lock Hed, St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank, Digicel, eCaribbean, The Admirals Enterprises, Angie & Rosie’s Plant Care, Strictly Sports, DotCom, Glimbarro International Trading Company & CVDS, KVK Enterprises, Mystique Photo Lab, Domus Windows and Frank B Armstrong.
The dates for this year’s Kittitian Expo are Friday 7th & Saturday 8th November, from 10:00am-10:00pm, at the Royal Ballroom of the Marriott.
FirstCaribbean International Bank has announced the appointment of Clovis Metcalfe, a 35 year veteran of the bank, to the role of Managing Director in Jamaica. The closure of the Four Seasons Resort in Nevis is being seen as a blow to tourism St. Kitts and Nevis. Federal Minister of State for Tourism, Sen. the Hon. Richard Skerritt said the closure will “hurt the federation in several ways,” including fewer visitors on the ground spending. VENEZUELA has ordered the expulsion of Israeli Ambassador to Caracas Shlomo Cohen in protest at Israel’s offensive in the Gaza Strip.
