BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, July 7, 2010 (St. Kitts Sports News Press Release) - Former world champion sprinter Kim Collins retired from international competition last year in order to spend more time at home in the Caribbean but his continued love of athletics will see him take part in Glasgow's Super8 meeting on Wednesday night.

The 34-year-old, who won 100-metres gold in the 2003 World Championships, no longer competes on such a lofty stage but he is determined to keep racing for as long as he can.

The St Kitts and Nevis athlete said: "It's always good to compete, regardless of where the competition takes you."

Collins is one of a number of big names taking part in the eight-team event at Scotstoun Stadium with world number one high-jumper Chaunte Howard-Lowe also appearing.

Collins added: "I love the sport and that's the major thing for me, to do it as much and as long as I can.

"Maybe another year or two, as long my body continues to hold up, I will continue to do that.

"I've been here before, probably in 2004 or 2005. It was good and many of my best races were in England so it's always good memories for me."

Collins is the guest athlete for Sheffield while Lee McConnell's Glasgow team will feature two-time world indoor 60m hurdles champion Lolo Jones.

Collins will run against American Trell Kimmons and Britons Mark Lewis-Francis, Craig Pickering and Christian Malcolm, and he urged the Glasgow public to give the event their support.
