CHARLESTOWN Nevis, March 8th 2011 - President of the Nevis Cricket Association, Ronald Powell made a personal visit yesterday to the Nevis Bakery and congratulated proprietors Clinton Willet and Lorette Brand-Willet on the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the popular institution.

Powell wished the couple success in their future endeavours and said that he was particularly pleased with the caring and giving attitude that has become synonymous with the Bakery over the years.

“You are always giving to the cause of the community and I am particularly pleased with the tremendous assistance that you have granted to the Nevis Cricket Association throughout the years. I wish you many more years of successful business and I look forward to a continued positive relationship with the Nevis Cricket Association”, Powell said.

Clinton Willet for his part, thanked Powell for his kind words and indicated that once the business continues to prosper, he and his wife would always be willing to give back to the community—especially towards the development of the youth.

The Nevis Bakery opened its doors on March 6th 1961 under the husband and wife team and  pioneers Hubert and Evelinia Brand, ably assisted by Hubert’s sister, Gertrude Roberts.

The Bakery has operated on  its guiding principle: “Quality is our watchword”  in conjunction with its current maxim: “The secret is in the dough”.
