Interschool Championship sprints off this evening

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – HIGH-QUALITY track and field performances are expected at this weekend’s TDC Interschool Championship, at the Kim Collins Athletics Stadium.

     

    The Charles E Mills Secondary School is the defending champion and would be looking to better the competition, led by CARIFTA Games qualifier, Demetri Brown.

     

    The Meet begins this evening (Mar. 31) with a series of preliminary events - the 400m and the 4x100m relay competitions.

     

    Action then resumes on Saturday with a full slate of events on the schedule from the Boys and Girls 200m individual races to the hurdles, 800m and the team 4x100m relay races.

     

    According to the St. Kitts-Nevis Amateur Athletics Association (SKNAAA), some 12 High Schools have registered to participate in the competition with 96 individual medals on offer and 16 in the team competitions.

     

    On Sunday (Apr. 2), the final Day of the competition – a number of field events are on the schedule. And on the track, the sprinters would bring the curtains down on the 41st edition of the event in the 100m sprint series, as well as the 4x100m relay competitions, which sent fans into a frenzy in years past.

     

    The events of Saturday and Sunday begin at 12:00 p.m. while today’s event begin at 5:30 p.m.
