Conaree and Spurs to battle for Easter Cup tonight

By: Jermine Abel, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THIS evening (Apr. 15) fans can expect a highly competitive and entertaining game of football as two of the Federation’s top clubs will lock horns in a battle for the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association’s (SKNFA) Easter Cup.

SOL Island Auto Conaree and Hobson Enterprise Garden Hotspurs will be battling at Warner Park for the second trophy on offer for the season.

Spurs made the Finals after warding off a challenge from neighbours and rivals FLOW 4G Cayon Rockets.

The match, which was played on Thursday evening (Apr.13), saw a 37th-minute penalty conversion by Errol O’Loughlin separating the two teams, with Conaree progressing.

In the first of the double header, Spurs and RAMS Village Superstars needed penalty kicks to separate them after they were deadlocked on two goals after regulation time.

Kimaree Rogers opened the account in the 19th minute of the game before G' Vaune Amory doubled the led in the 38th minute after converting a penalty.

However, a spirited double from Tahir Hanley in the 63rd and 84th minutes ensured that Spurs remain in contention, thus pushing the game to penalty kicks.

That is where Spurs capitalize and held on for a 4-3 victory after Yusuf Saunders and Ordell Flemming failed to find the back of the net for the Superstars and Zeleon Morton missed out on his opportunity for Spurs.

This evening’s encounters kick off at 7:00 p.m. at the Warner Park Football Stadium, in what is expected to be cold conditions.
