Triathlon Event Announced as part of SPHS-CEMSS 50th Anniversary Celebrations!

By: MUS-TRI Media Team, Press Release

Sandy Point, St. Kitts (27th March 2017) –  The Charles E. Mills Secondary School (CEMSS), formerly the Sandy Point High School (SPHS), is well known in the federation for its fierce and competitive athletes. To pay respect to the school’s sporting spirit the 50th Anniversary Committee has decided to end its year-long celebrations with a triathlon called the Master-Ur-Skills Triathlon or more affectionately as MUS-TRI. The event is scheduled for July 1st 2017, and will be the first ever triathlon hosted by school and the first of its kind on the western end of the island.

Denver Mike, MUS-TRI Committee Coordinator, remarks that "the school is known for being a fierce competitor in different sporting disciplines within the federation.  I believe it is only fitting that the last event to celebrate its 50th anniversary be a sporting event
MUS-TRI will see participants involved in swimming, cycling and running.  However, the event it is tailored to allow even those of persons who are not professional athletes to enter. Persons have the choice of entering as an individual and or as a relay team where each member of the relay team completes a different leg of the triathlon.

The hub of the triathlon will take place at Fig Tree, Sandy Point. The swimming leg will be 400m and take place at Pump Bay, Fig Tree, Sandy Point. The second leg is the cycling activity which will cover roughly 16.7 km from Pump Bay to Parsons and returning to Pump Bay. The final leg is 7.7km run from Pump Bay to Half Way Tree and returning to Pump Bay.

The MUS-TRI Committee is working hard to make the first ever MUS-TRI a successful one and describes it is a great opportunity family bonding event, an opportunity for individuals to try something new and of course an opportunity to support the school’s 50th year anniversary. MUS-TRI is open to the public and the Committee is looking forward to seeing relay teams from around the island.
