Foetus found in Rawlins Village
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A New Road resident is in police custody following the discovery of an illegal firearm and a quantity of ammunition.
According to a police report, on Sunday (Apr. 23), officers from the Special Service Unit and the Defence Force had executed a search warrant on a property in the New Road area, which resulted in the discovery and seizure of “one Taurus .40 Pistol and six rounds of matching ammunition”.
The report stated that one person from the property is in police custody as the investigation continues.
“This firearm, like all others seized by police, will undergo Forensic Testing to determine its use in any unsolved gun-related incidents,” it added.
The report further stated that the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force “continues its appeal to residents and citizens to come forward and share any information they may have with regards to crime and criminal activity. Citizens can do so by calling any police station, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477(TIPS) or by using the SKN Crime Reporter App on a Smartphone”.
This seizure brings to 12 the number of illegal firearms removed from the streets and communities of St. Kitts and Nevis for this year.
Meanwhile, on sister isle Nevis, investigators of the Criminal Investigation Department and the Forensic Services Unit on Sunday (Apr. 23) had responded to a report of the discovery of a foetus in the 16 Acres area of Rawlins Village.
The foetus was examined by District Medical Officer Dr. Chandy Jacobs, who determined it to be that of a male, about 10 to 12 weeks in development.
