Sugar Boyz ready to defend home turf against Barbados

BASSETERRE, ST. Kitts – WITH a lengthy break away from international games, the St. Kitts-Nevis Men’s Football Team will be looking to come out victorious in their international friendly against Barbados tomorrow (May 6) at Warner Park.

The St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) is urging all to come out and lend support in the customary red.

Secretary General of the SKNFA, Stanley Jacobs told reporters at a press conference held at Football House today that they are pleased to be staging their first international friendly for 2017.

“These international friendlies are key part of our development strategy to ensure that our ranking remains below 100. Of course, our goal last year was to achieve  the below 100, which we did, improving our best ranking ever of 73 in the world.”

However, with the Sugar Boyz being inactive on the international seen for some time, their ranking has plummeted to 98th.

“So, we want to continue that trend, and in order to do so we have to ensure that we engage in a number of high level international friendlies,” Jacobs explained.

The game against Barbados will be used as a precursor to the international friendly games in Europe.

According to SKNFA officials, seven junior players are expected to ‘suit up’ in the
    20-man squad.

The first whistle blows off at 8:00 p.m. and admission to game in $20.
