Motorists Advised Of Upcoming Road Works

    GIS, 8 May 2017 - Motorists and other users of the Territory’s roads are notified of the following upcoming road works scheduled to take place.

     

    The installation of sewer force main pipes from Fine Foods Supermarket to the Long Swamp Bridge (near the East End Police Station) continues on Monday, May 8.

    Work will be carried out in 950-ft segments with an expected duration of tendays per segment and will continue consecutively to the Paraquita Bay Treatment Plant.

    During the works which span from Long Swamp to the Long Look junction, westbound motorists are asked to take detours through Little Dix Road onto the Ridge Road or back through Long Look to access the Blackburn Highway. Similarly, eastbound motorists are asked to detour through Long Look Road onto Little Dix Road during this time.  Use of the Ridge Road is highly recommended during these times.

    Nightly road closure will commence on May 13, from the McNamara Junction to the Fort Burt Hotel, between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.The purpose of the road closure is to facilitate upgrades on the sewer gravity main on Waterfront Drive. Works are expected to last ten days.
    Road works also continue in Spring Ghut, Horsepath, Harrigan Estate (Bound Tree Road) and Nottingham Estate.

    Motorists are asked to drive with extreme caution and to follow road signs in these areas. Motorists are also asked to take the suggested alternate routes into and out of Road Town and to refrain from parking on sidewalks.

    As the Ministry of Communications and Works is continuing to carrying out various infrastructural work in the coming months, persons are asked to stay abreast with media outlets online and on the radio or the Government’s YouTube and Facebook pages at the username @BVIGovernment for more information.
