MURDER VICTIM: Gregory Mills
By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE have informed that two persons are in custody assisting sleuths with their investigations into Gregory Mills’ shooting-death.

Mills, a young entrepreneur who had owned and operated Greg’s Pizza next to Morton’s Supermarket on Cayon Street in Basseterre, was gunned down while driving in the Gillard Meadows area in the St. Peter’s Parish.

Information reaching SKNVibes stated that some time before 6:00 p.m., the 27-year-old businessman was shot multiple times by an assailant(s) and had died at the scene.

Speaking with local media house WINN FM, Ambassador Jonel Powell expressed his condolences to Mills’ family and described his demise a loss to the Federation.

“Let me start off by expressing my deepest condolences to the family of the late Gregory Mills. I more than knew of him. I knew him personally. This is somebody that I would stop and have a drink with or chat with on a regular basis. The only way I would describe him was as a really good man, entrepreneur, and it’s really a loss for the entire country and society. This is an example of a really good young man who has been taken at the prime of his life and has just been reduced to another statistic...and not a good statistic.

“Ten homicides for the year and some may say we’ve had more by this point in previous years. But I believe that one is too much and this is really an issue that really has to be addressed. It’s clear this crime and murder issue is not political now and we need to forget about the politics and everybody needs to come onboard and really put all minds and hands together to get something done.”

Gregory Mills’ death has taken to 10 the number of homicides committed in the Federation for this year; five on each island.
