BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) continues to be successful in its quest to rid the Federation’s streets of illegal firearms as two pistols were discovered and seized last night (May 13) in the Cedar Grove area.
A police communiqué stated that acting on information received, officers had searched a plot of land in the Cedar Grove area and found one Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum Revolver with three matching rounds and one Diamondback 9mm Pistol with a magazine containing a number of matching rounds.
It quoted Superintendent Adolph Adams, Head of the Special Services Unit, as saying: ““I want to commend our officers and encourage them to stay focussed and vigilant. Even though no one has been held responsible for the find, it is satisfying to see that we are taking these illegal firearms from our streets.”
Adams also reportedly said that a total of six illegal firearms over the last days is encouraging and “says we are on the right track. We will stay focussed”.
These seizures have taken to 21 the number of illegal firearms removed off the streets of St. Kitts and Nevis for the year.
Just recently the police had discovered and seized six illegal firearms and a quantity of ammunition; five of them and 32 rounds in Conaree Village and one with five matching rounds in Cayon.
The RSDCNPH is continuing its appeal to residents and citizens to come forward and share any information they might have with regards to crime and criminal activity.
The Force also advises that citizens can do so by calling any police station, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477(TIPS) or by using the SKN Crime Reporter App on a Smartphone.
