RAMS Superstars and Newtown to battle for FA Cup

By: Jermine Abel, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WINNERS CIRCLE NEWTOWN UNITED will be looking to capture their first trophy of season when they lock horns with RAMS Village Superstars, after both teams had qualified for the Finals of the FA Cup last evening (May 17).

Newtown United needed penalty kicks to see off a spirited challenge from FLOW 4G Cayon Rockets 4-3, after both teams ended regulation time deadlock at 2-2.

A double strike from Carlos Bertie in the 8th and 47th minutes had placed Cayon in pole position to dominate the game and qualify for the Finals.

But Kevon Browne responded with a double strike of his own in 67th and 76th minutes to ensure that the game would head for extra time and subsequent penalty kicks.

In the second game, RAMS Village Superstars brushed aside Sol Island Auto Conaree 3-1 to progress.

Conaree drew first blood when Sylvester Caines found the back of the net in the 12th minute. However, Kimaree Rogers netted a double in the 57th and 72nd minutes to put the Superstars ahead.

A 78th minute penalty kick by G'vaune Amory then sealed the deal for Superstars.

On Saturday (May 20), the Superstars will be looking to gain their second trophy of the second, after capturing the Carnival Cup back in December, last.

That was their first silverware after many years, when they edged Garden Hotspurs 2-1.
