A police communiqué issued last evening (May 18), stated that the 31-year-old Bye was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the murder of Mills, which was committed on Tuesday (May 9), and that another suspect is being sought.

On the following day, police had reported that two men were in their custody assisting with investigations into Mills' murder.

Commenting on the arrest and charge, Head of the Crime Directorate, Assistant Commissioner of Police Andre Mitchell said: “I want to commend the investigators and the Forensic Services Unit for their work on this case so far. I also want to thank all who provided information related to this case. The courage to come forward was appreciated.”

The Crime Chief continued: “We continue to encourage the general public to come forward with information regarding criminal activity. Sometimes the information the public may have is what is needed to make a break in an investigation.”

In that regard, the police said members of the public could share information them by calling any police station, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477(TIPS) or by using the SKN Crime Reporter App on their Smartphones.

Mills, who had owned and operated Greg’s Pizza next to Morton’s Supermarket on Cayon Street in Basseterre, was gunned down the day before his 28th birth anniversary while driving in the Gillard Meadows area in the St. Peter’s Parish.

Information which had reached SKNVibes, stated that some time before 6:00 p.m. on the day in question, the young businessman was shot multiple times by an assailant or assailants and had died at the scene.

Since then, there has been widespread condemnation of that life-taking incident and other gun-related homicides in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Gregory Mills’ death had taken to 10 the number of homicides committed in the Federation for this year; five on each island.
