BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUST days after police had charged five individuals for breaking into the building that houses Island Purified Water at the corner of Fort Thomas Road and West Bourne Ghaut and stealing a number of items, police have charged another man with similar offences.
A police report has informed that George Carty of West Street was arrested and charged for allegedly breaking into a store on Port Zante and committing an act of larceny between May 13 and 14, 2017.
Carty’s image was reportedly caught on a close circuit TV in the store.
This was confirmed by the head of the Crime Directorate, Assistant Commissioner of Police Andre Mitchell, who said: “The use of footage captured by the store’s video surveillance was instrumental in moving this case forward.”
He also said that it was “a classic case of the proper usage and benefits of these systems for businesses and home owners” and reminded that the Government is offering duty concessions for the importation of those security systems.
