The St kitts diabetes association in collaboration with the St kitts and Nevis Red Cross Society, will carry out a screening exercise at the Cayon primary school, on Thursday 25th May as part of a program to determine the magnitude of the diabetes problem amongst our young people. The age group to be targeted, is the 10-12 year range.
This is a continuation of a project, started in 2016 ,when all of the high schools on St kitts were visited and screened.
The diabetes association is endeavouring to increase the awareness of diabetes throughout the population, mainly because it is felt that with lifestyle changes, the problems and complications linked to the disease can be significantly reduced.
Any assistance from and collaboration with groups and organisations, would be welcome, as this would enhance the ability of the association in its goal to impact in a positive way, the statistics relating to diabetes.
