(BRIDGETOWN, June 1, 2017) -- The Canadian Government-funded project Improved Access to Justice in the Caribbean (IMPACT Justice) is pleased to sponsor the attendance of 5 participants - 4 from Guyana and 1 from Jamaica - at the UWI, St. Augustine Campus, Faculty of Law’s 2nd Biennial Oil and Gas Law Conference.
The Conference takes place on June 8th and 9th from 8am to 4pm on both days at The Hilton Trinidad Conference Centre, Port of Spain. It will address the current legal challenges in the energy sector in light of the decline in oil prices and how this scenario affects oil exploration agreements as well as energy exploration and production.
The themes for the 2 days are:
• Exploring the legal framework for Oil and Gas Law; and
• The Trinidad Experience: Setting the Context and Lessons Learnt.
This Conference is targeted towards oil companies and other businesses working in the energy industry; key government stakeholders; local, regional and international attorneys-at-law and paralegals; academics and law students.
IMPACT Justice’s sponsorship of persons to attend this conference falls within its broader public legal education component, which aims to improve legal services, including access to legal education and information, for men, women, youth and businesses in the region.
