BASSETERRE, St. Kitts –  POPULAR pharmacist and former promoter Romeo Parris has taken on another challenge, this time managing one of the Federation’s budding artiste, Rashaun Bass.

Bass recently broke onto the local scene and has been making waves with some of his hit tunes (artiste to be featured in an SKNVibes entertainment article) and is now under the guidance of the pharmacist.

During the past weekend, Parris opened the door to his Mattingley Heights home to several journalists and close friends to critique the young artiste’s latest song and video.

The outspoken former entertainer told reporters that Bass had approached him on numerous occasions with the idea of becoming his manager, and he was impressed with what the young man brought to the table.

“The fact that he pushes himself, he has the drive, he writes his lyrics and he produces his songs,” Parris said.

Parris has been a known figure in the local entertainment industry, but decided to step aside a few years ago due to people not supporting his vision and also the constant loss of revenue that he suffered.

The pharmacist declared that he is retuning a favour to the artiste, because when he was a young man it is Bass’ grandfather who had assisted him in certain aspects of life shortly after he had move to one of the rural areas in St. Kitts.

Speaking to the video review, Parris noted that it was primarily aimed at getting feedbacks and critiques from persons who have ideas and are knowledgeable in the music and entertainment industry.

“Tonight is basically to show him [Bass] that it takes more than a talent to succeed. You have to be organised and it shows that you have to be professional. And the ideas that we were giving with respect to the video, when you hear what other persons, critics and media people have to say about your work, it helps to get you and your work where you want it to be.”

He stated that once that process is completed, he and the artiste would take the recommended ideas into consideration, rework the video and have an official launch at Boozies in the coming weeks.

The duo has only begun working together in February this year after signing onto Cactus Labels, and Parris pointed out that Bass is the second artiste he has taken under his wings.

Though the Caribbean is flooded with entertainers, Parris said he already have deals lined up for the young man with a view to pushing him internationally. He however informed that he is taking it slowly and not have then young artiste rushed into the highly competitive market during his developmental phase.

“Our target audience is Europe and the Caribbean and that is why we have the song Caribbean Vibes. This song is also of a slower beat that would work in Europe. So we are hoping that we can sell it and not just for concerts, but for publishing in airlines and other locations,” Parris said.

With Music Festival just a few days away Parris has expressed disappointment in his protégé not being among those artistes who would be gracing the stage.

This, Parris said, is despite him submitting an appeal back in February. He is however optimistic that Rashaun Bass would be on the stage in 2018.
