Police Press Release 07-06-2017: Report Of Arrests, Convictions And Other Activities

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 7, 2017 (RSCNPF): Below is a report of Arrests, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period 01 - 02 Junee, 2017. 

     

    Arrested: Leon Francis of Rawlins Housing Extension St. Paul’s was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Robbery committed on Friday 24th February 2017 at St. Paul’s
     
    Arrested/Bailed: Sean Rogers of Conaree was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the following offences: Obstruction, Resisting arrest, Battery on Police and Threatening Language. He was granted bail in the sum of $5000 for his appearance at District "A" Magistrate Court on Monday 3rd July 2017.. 
     
    Bailed: Rovandel Glasgow of Westbourne Ghaut who was charged with the offence of larceny was granted bail in the sum of $7000.00 with the following condition: (1) keep 100 ft away from the premises of St. Kitts Auto Services at Westbourne Ghaut.  He is due to appear before the said District "A" Magistrate Court to answer his bail on Monday 3rd July 2017.  
     
    COURT CONVICTIONS: 
    In Matters at the District "A" Magistrate Court presided over by Her Honour, Mrs Josephine Mallalieu-Webb the following convictions were reported: 
     
    -  Francisco Reyes of Basseterre who was charged for the offence of building breaking and larceny, at the Government multi-purpose laboratory situated at  La Guerite between 26th and 27th June 2014. He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of larceny and was fined $2000.00 to be paid by 26th July, 2017 and if in default will serve  six (6) months hard labour. 
     
    -  Julian Carty of Sandown Road Basseterre,  who was charged for the importation of cocaine on Sunday 15th January 2017. He was also charged for other related offences namely Possession with intent to supply, importation of cocaine, making false a declaration. He pleaded guilty to the above mentioned charges. Other charges by the Customs and Excise Department were withdrawn at court. He was sentenced to five (5) years imprisonment taking into consideration four (4) months spent on remand while awaiting his trial. 
     
    In Matters at the District "B" Magistrate Court presided over by Her Honour Mrs. Karen Hill-Hector,  the following convictions were reported:  

    - Authur Bradshaw of Buckley's Site who was charged with the offence of Driving Without Due Care and Attention committed on Friday 14th April 2017 at Newton Ground was found Guilty and ordered to pay a sum of Seven Hundred dollars ($700) ECD payable by Friday 16th  June 2017 and if  in default serve thirty (30) days  in prison. 

    -Austawaki Coker of Wingfield Road Old Road who was charged with the offence of Driving Without Due Care and Attention committed on Friday 6th January 2017 at Middle Island was found guilty and was ordered to pay a fine of Eight Hundred dollars ($800) ECD payable by Friday 16th June, 2017 and if in default serve thirty (30) days in Prison. 
     
    In Matters at the Charlestown Magistrate Court presided over by Her Honour Miss Yasmine Clarke the following convictions were reporte: 

    -Glenville Phillip of Bath Village was convicted and fined $2000.00 to be paid in 6 months or of in default serve twelve (12) months imprisonment for the offence of Possession of cannabis.
     
    -Jermaine Whyte of Bath Village was convicted and cautioned for Possession of Cannabis.  

    -Shevon Browne of Cherry Garden was convicted and cautioned for driving without due care and attention. 

    -Jonathan Chiverton of Pond Hill was convicted and cautioned for driving an unlicensed vehicle.  . 
     
    OTHER ACTIVITY:
    Armed Robbery: Police responded to a report of Robbery at The Daily Food Supermarket located at Buckleys. The V/C reported that at 1.10pm on Monday 29th May 2017 two men with black shirts covering their face entered the premises from the front of the property and robbed the establishment of a sum of cash. The scene was processed by the Crime Scene Unit and the investigation will continue.  
     
    Marijuana Plants Uprooted: A patrol of officers reported that they discovered, uprooted and seized, three hundred and sixty eight (368) Marijuana Plants ranging from seedlings to ten feet in  Carifesta Village. 
     
    A patrol of officers reported that they discovered, uprooted and seized, one thousand five hundred and fifty seven plants (1557) cannabis plant ranging from seedlings to 9 feet in height in Old Road Village.  
     
    Another Three Thousand Five Hundred and eighteen (3518) marijuana plants were uprooted from the Old Road mountain area.  In the Old Road Mountain on Wednesday 31st  May 2017 
     
    Abandoned Properties: Police continues to execute searches of abandoned properties; most recent searches were done in following area: Wellington Road, Middle Island, Hibiscus Street (Greenlands), Lamberts, Camps Newcastle and Cardin Avenue.  An abandoned building in Newton Ground was also searched and discovered to be the location of a marijuana drying operation. A number of freshly reaped marijuana plants were discovered drying on a bunked bed and on the flooring. These searches were done for controlled drugs, firearms and ammunition.  
     
    House Breaking and Larceny: Police responded to a report of a House Breaking and Larceny. The V/C reported that the house located at West Street, Newtown. The Complainant reported that he secured his apartment at about 8.30am on Tuesday 30th May, 2017 and left. He returned home at about 4.40pm on Tuesday 30th May, 2017 and discovered that his apartment was broken into and a number of items were missing. The scene was processed by the Crime Scene Unit and the investigations continue.
     
    Search Warrants Executed: Police executed a number of search warrants during the period of this report. Warrants were executed on properties in the following area: Willetts Housing Project (St. Paul’s).
     
    Traffic Accidents: There were a number of accidents on the federation’s roadways in St. Kitts during the period of this report. 
     
    Citizen Safety: Police continue to conduct Vehicle Check Points and Stop and Searches along the island main road on St. Kitts and Nevis. Officers continue to conduct searches of abandoned properties and lots. The execution of search warrants continue as well. These activities are being conducted in support of anti-crime objectives to remove illegal firearms and ammunition, illegal drugs and other instruments that can be used to commit crimes from our communities.
