(EMU) – St. Kitts, June 12th, 2017 -- The St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards (SKNBS) celebrated World Accreditation Day under the theme, ‘Delivering Confidence in Construction and the Built Environment.’
“This year’s theme focuses on how accreditation can support professionals in the construction industry,” announced, Officer-in-Charge, Ministry of International Trade et al, Mrs. Jasemine Warner-Weekes, she added, “When we speak of accreditation, we are referring to determining the technical competence, integrity and impartiality of the organizations providing conformity assessment services such as testing, calibration, certification and inspection based on international standards.
The half-day seminar included presentations, from the construction, manufacturing and medical sectors aimed at raising awareness by demonstrating how accreditation is used by policy makers, local authorities and regulators to support construction-based regulation, environmental protection, public safety, fraud prevention, public trust and innovation.
World Accreditation Day is a global initiative celebrated annually on 9th June, jointly established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), to raise awareness of the importance of accreditation.
