BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE curtains will come down on the 2017 St. Kitts Music Festival this evening (Jun. 24) at Warner Park, where some of the world’s top entertainers are slated to perform.
Jah Cure, K. Michelle, Briannagh D, Ed Robinson and Creedence Clearwater Revisited, among others, will onstage.
At a press conference this morning, all of the entertainers expressed their pleasure to be showcased at this year’s event.
In its 21st Edition, the Festival, according to organizers, has grown to include the world’s best songsters and songstresses.
According to Tourism Minister Hon. Lindsay Grant, this year’s event has spurred large tourist arrivals, as flights have been fully booked and hotel rooms filled to capacity at some of the top resorts, especially the St. Kitts Marriott.
The Government has used the event as a marketing tool to draw tourists to the island during the off period, as stay-over visitors flattening out in recent times.
Chairman of the Selection Committee, Ambassador Jonel Powell told reporters that when they initially announced the line-up, it was said that it was a “massive line-up” and then they came with the surprise of Michelle.
He described it as the “icing on the cake” and “as we say here in St. Kitts and Nevis, it sell off”.
“I say welcome to all of you...As we go into the final night of the St. Kitts Music Festival, I just want to say come on out and support the event…,” Powell added.
The event kicks off at 8:00 p.m. and the organizers are hopeful of not having a late finish as it was last night, which ended just after 5:00 a.m. today.
