SSU ranks discover illegal firearm, ammo at Ferry Terminal

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN their continuous efforts to make the Federation safer for citizens, residents and visitors as well as for doing business, members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force’s Special Services Unit (SSU) have removed yet another illegal firearm and a quantity of ammunition from off the streets.

     

    A police communiqué stated that while patrolling and conducting searches of abandoned properties and lots last night (Jul. 2), members of the SSU had discovered a Taurus 9mm Pistol with six matching rounds in the vicinity of the Ferry Terminus in Basseterre.

    No one was reportedly held for the find.

    This discovery has taken to 26 the number of illegal firearms taken of the Streets.

    The 25th illegal firearm was discovered within a Ghaut in Ottley’s Village on Tuesday (Jun. 27) during a search operation that included a K-9 team.

    Members of the SSU had also executed six search warrants on properties between Old Road and Sandy Point during their Citizen Safety patrol last night.

    Those searches, according to the police, were done on properties of person suspected to be engaged in criminal activity and the officers were in search of illegal firearms, ammunition, illegal drugs and other instruments that could be used in criminal enterprise. 

    The police are reminding citizens and residents that they could share information regarding crime and criminal activity by calling any police station, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477(TIPS) or by using the SKN Crime Reporter App on their Smartphone.
