BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, July 7, 2017 (PLP PR Media Inc.) -- The Federation has just witnessed a flurry of activities as colourful celebrations were held by the various primary schools to bid farewell to their Grade Six pupils who after successfully siting the Test of Standards will be joining high/secondary schools in the new Academic Year.

National Chairman of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP) Mr Warren Thompson conveyed best wishes to both the parents and teachers for having worked together and hard to ensure that the candidates who sat the National Test of Standards Exams were well prepared for the exams. After all that hard work, the pupils are now ready to move up the ladder to a more challenging life by joining high schools.

“Our children are our future and it is a great joy to see that teachers in the Federation had worked beyond the call of duty to ensure that the children entrusted to them by the parents are well guided,” said Mr Thompson. “No one should underestimate the role played by teachers in moulding our future leaders, and they should be congratulated for a job well done.”

According to Mr Thompson, the Peoples Labour Party made arrangements where members of the various Branch Executives attended graduation parties in their areas. This was aimed at giving moral support to the overjoyed parents as their children were showered with awards and gifts, and as they learned what high school they would be attending in the new Academic Year.

In Constituency Number Seven, which is represented by the Political Leader of the Peoples Labour Party and the Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, the parents and pupils had every reason to thank their Area Parliamentary Representative for the great encouragement he has been giving to them through the Annual Dr Harris Help-A-Child Scholarship Programme whose 14th edition rolls out this year.

“All the children who graduated from the four primary schools in the Constituency would have benefitted in one way or the other from this programme,” said Mr Thompson. “The Prime Minister who was out of the country attending the Thirty-Eighth Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in Grenada sent his congratulations and best wishes.”

The first graduation in the constituency was that of the pupils of the Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary School which was held on Monday July 3 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Molineux.
