CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – TWO women and a man, who were in police custody following the discovery of an illegal firearm, ammunition and a quantity of marijuana in Rawlins Village, were charged for the offences.
Charged with possession of firearm, possession of ammunition, smuggling of firearm, possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply are Dwayne Freeman, Natasha Freeman, both of Rawlins Village, and Watisha Browne of Cole Hill.
According to a police communiqué, while executing a search warrant in the Rawlins Village area for illegal firearms, ammunition and controlled drugs early Saturday morning (Jul. 8), officers of the Nevis Division and the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force had discovered one 9mm pistol, eight rounds of ammunition and a quantity of marijuana on a certain premises.
Police had reported that they had detained five persons who were on the premises at the time of the discovery – two juveniles and three adults. However, only the adults were taken into custody.
That discovery had taken to 27 the number of illegal firearms taken off the Federation’s streets; five on Nevis and 22 on St. Kitts.
