SKN lone athlete in action tomorrow

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE lone athlete representing the Federation at the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London, England, will sprint into action tomorrow (Aug. 5).

     

    Warren Hazel, who was the only athlete selected by the St. Kitts-Nevis Amateur Athletics Association, will compete in the Men’s 400m event at the Championships.

    According to the schedule, Hazel would compete in Heat 3 of 6 and is expected to go up against the likes of Jamaica’s Demish Gaye and Botswana’s 
    Baboloki Thebe.

    He is slotted in lane one and is expected to hit the track at 6:03 a.m. St. Kitts-Nevis time or 11:03 a.m. British time.

    American sensation and provisional favourite, LaShawn Merritt will be in Heat 5 running out of lane 9.

    Meanwhile, South African Wayde Van Niekerk is also expected to compete for the world title.

    The top three from each of the Heats and the next six fastest qualifiers will make the Semi-Finals.

    Hazels has in recent times produced blistering times on the track and is expected to qualify for the Semi-Finals slated for Sunday (Aug. 6) beginning at 14:04 p.m. St. Kitts time.
