2017 Independence 26th Mini Marathon

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 29th, 2017 -- The Department of Sport will now host its 26th road race as a part of the National Independence celebratory activities in the form of a Mini Marathon, 5k celebration on Sunday 10th September 2017. The 10k will start in Cayon and the 5k race will start in Keys. The races will start at 4:00 p.m.  and finish in Warner Park. Each participant will receive a T-shirt.

     

    The Ministry of education school buses will transport athletes to and from the event in Cayon and keys. One school bus will leave Newton Ground via Cayon at 3:00 p.m. and from Sandy Point via Basseterre at 3:00 p.m and pickup from Walwyn’s gas station at the bottom of Victoria Road.

    Persons desirous of competing must note the following:
      
    1. Registration is free and can be done through the Department of Sport via telephone    (869) 662-2008 or email sportsdept@gmail.com

    2. Registration forms will be given to all educational institutions and are readily available high school , primary schools, CFBC and AVEC

    3. There is no age restriction. 

    4. Registration forms are also available at the department of sports in  Warner Park 

    5. Registration can also be done on the day of the event

    Prizes will be awarded for:

     -The youngest male and female finisher
    - The oldest male and female finisher

    1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in the following categories: 

    - Males 12 years and under
    - Males 13-16 years
    - Males 17 and older

    - Females 12 years and under
    - Females 13-16 years
    - Females 17 and older
