Kingston, Jamaica: The second Chris Gayle-led Pro 15/15 cricket tournament kicks off at the Kaiser Sports Club in St. Ann, Jamaica, on Saturday, October 2nd, and features a host of star cricketers – past and present – from across the Caribbean. Digicel has once again come on board as main sponsors, with all proceeds being donated to the Heart Foundation of Jamaica.
Speaking at yesterday’s launch, Gayle said; “Being able to bring some of the finest West Indies cricketers – past and present – to communities in rural Jamaica for a fun day of cricket is really important to me. We’ll also be raising funds for the Heart Foundation of Jamaica which needs all the support it can get in order to continue to provide vital services to Jamaicans.”
As the largest sponsors of cricket across the region, Digicel is on board to support the tournament and ensure that everyone enjoys a fun day of cricket and much more, with competitions and giveaways taking place throughout the day.
Digicel Jamaica Head of Marketing, Donovan White, said at yesterday’s launch; “Last year’s Pro 15/15 cricket tournament was a huge success and we are delighted to be on board again this year. Making sure that cricket fans across Jamaica have the opportunity to watch and interact with international cricket stars like Chris Gayle and Jerome Taylor is very important to us and to the promotion of the game of cricket as a whole.”
As part of the Pro 15/15 cricket tournament, Gayle will donate sporting equipment courtesy of CJ Sporting Goods to schools across Jamaica. In addition, four lucky young cricketers from Grace Shield and Headley Cup will receive a scholarship to assist them with tuition and school books.
Showcasing the best of St. Elizabeth, St. Ann, Trelawny and Kingston, the day begins at 9:30am and will feature four matches in total with a mixed team of celebrities and local youth cricketers facing off to win a match prize at the end of the day.
Additions to the lineup will be announced in the coming weeks.
