(Charlestown; Nevis): Telecommunications giant Digicel has recently donated eight cellular phones to the Nevis Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) in an effort to forge collaboration between the two organizations to ensure Nevis is kept clean.

These were the sentiments of Digicel Sales Executive Jacinth Welsh on Wednesday 31, Jan. in a brief handing-over ceremony held at the conference room of the former Administration Building in Charlestown.

Chairperson of the NSWMA, Joslyn Liburd was on hand to accept the donation on behalf of the organization.  In her remarks, Liburd explained that the phones would serve to significantly improve the efficiency of the NSWMA.

Digicels contribution was in response to a request by the Board of Directors of the NSWMA to donate the phones.  Our Deputy Chairperson, Mr. Ron Daniel approached Digicel on behalf of the board and was able to convince them to donate these phones to the NSWMA, she said.

We are extremely grateful to Digicel for their generous offer and we look forward to a long and beneficial relationship with the good people of Digicel.
In total, it was seven Nolia 1600's and one Blackberry 7100.

In response, Welsh noted that Digicel was eager to collaborate with the NSWMA in their endeavours to improve efficiency.

Ron Daniel called us and we immediately responded.  We too look forward to partnering with the NSWMA and other businesses in Nevis to meet their needs, she said. We hope that this is just the beginning of Digicels partnership with the NWSMA and we look forward to working with them as they strive to keep Nevis clean.

In total Seven Nokia 1600s as well as one Blackberry 7100 were donated by Digicel in an effort to help the NSWMA improve the efficiency of its communication in their continued efforts to keep Nevis clean.
