Police Press Release

    The following persons were convicted at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 26th February 2007;

     

    ·         Wilson George of Sandy Point who was charged with the offence of "Possession of a Controlled Drug" to wit cannabis, committed on 14th February 2007 was convicted and fined $1,500.00 to be paid in two (2) weeks or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment with hard labour.

     

     

     

    ·         Adorington Govia of Basseterre, who was charged with the offence of "Malicious Damage" committed on 17th November 2006, was convicted and sentenced to serve two (2) months imprisonment with hard labour.

     

    At the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 26th February 2007, Cleon Carty of Upper Shaw Avenue, who was charged with the offence of "Wounding With Intent" committed on 21st October 2006, was committed to stand trial at the May 2007 Criminal Assizes. He was also granted bail in the sum of $50,000.00 for his appear at the said assizes.

     

    At the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 27th February 2007, Alister Henderson of Conyers who was charged with offence of "Malicious Damage" was convicted and sentenced to serve two months imprisonment with hard labour.~~adz:Right~~

     

    On Monday 26th January 2007, Terrance Casey alias "Donkey" of Newtown was charged with the offence of "Larceny" committed on 15th December 2006 at Kings Pavillion.

     

    On Monday 26th January 2007, a thirteen-year-old male of the Sandy Point area was charged with the offences of "Being armed with an offensive weapon" and "Battery".

     

    The Criminal Investigations Department is investigating a robbery that took place on Monday 26th February 2007 at the Circus in front of the First Caribbean International Bank, where a female was robbed of bag containing an undisclosed sum of money. A male adult of the Sandy Point area is presently in police custody assisting with the investigation.

     

    Any person with information in relating to this incident is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 465-2241 Ext 220 / 230 / 236 and can do so anonymously.
