BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE are investigating a Wednesday night shooting incident that occurred in St. Johnson Village.

Information reaching this publication indicates that at approximately 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday (June 22), while a group of people, including a number of women, were standing in the vicinity of Virgil Newton Street in St. Johnson Village, a man dressed in a white T-shirt and a white baseball cap approached and fired a single shot at them.

After firing the shot, the man fled the scene and ran through the Spring Field Cemetery.

Fortunately, however, no one was reportedly injured.

Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Vaughan Henderson confirmed the shooting incident and stated that officers at the Basseterre Police Station had received the report some five minutes after it occurred.

Henderson said that members of the Special Services Unit and the Criminal Investigation Department had responded, and investigations led to the find of one spent shell which was taken into custody for analysis.

He also said that no suspect has so far been held but investigations are ongoing.
