BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ‘ZUNGU ZEN’ singer Yellow Man got the ball rolling last night (June 24) as the Warner Park Stadium opened its doors for night two of the 15th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival.

The event saw an enormous turnout that was estimated to be twice the size of the previous night.

The veteran reggae artiste’s performance was described as one of a ‘high tempo’ as he not only belted out a number of his past hits, but he also danced and pranced around throughout his tenure onstage.

He was followed by another reggae…Coco Tea, who sang songs such as ‘She Loves Me Now’, ‘Good Life’, ‘Give Us The Teaching Of His Majesty’, ‘Holy Mount Zion’ and ‘Hurry Up And Come’.

He also pleased the crowd with one of Lucian’s past hits.

It was then Maxi Priest’s time to perform and he did so from 11:10 p.m.

The long hair Rasta singer had the ladies screaming while some commented on his sexy voice.

Priest did a number of songs including ‘How It Feels To Be Loved’, ‘A Little Bit Longer’, ‘Crazy Love’ and ‘Whatever My Eyes Can See’. He also sang Gregory Isaacs’ ‘Night Nurse’ and invited his son onstage to render a few songs. ‘

His performance lasted for about an hour, which led to a short break, and was followed by Black Ryno who was onstage for only 15 minutes.

Many patrons saw him as “a waste of time” and rated his performance as “very poor”.

Ryno sang a number of his more popular tracks and hurriedly exited the stage for Konshens to make up for his unappreciative performance singing ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’.

Many patrons claimed not to know who Konshens was. However, after singing some of his music, they acknowledge knowing the songs but maintained not knowing the artiste.

It was then Demarco’s time to shine and he made his majestic entrance wearing all black and a Mohawk.

He sang many of his popular songs which went down well, but the crowd went wild he belted out ‘Standing Soldier’ and ‘I Love My Life.

Many people, during his performance, sought shelter from the unprecedented downpour of rain, and were heard saying that he was the best for the night.

Demarco had invited a number of females onstage to add some clean fun and show patrons that not because he is on the heavy side means he could not move to the melodious sounds.

The night came to an end with Gyptian who entered the stage at 2:30 p.m.

He too sang a number of his hits and had introduced a surprise artiste who also pleased the audience with his renditions.

Gyptian got some ladies moving their waistlines while he advised the men that it was the time for them to find a partner.

He performed hits such as ‘My Father Say’, ‘Mama Don’t Cry’, I can Feel Your Pain’. He however saved the best for last; his 2010 hit ‘Hold You’, which many people seemed to have been waiting to hear.

SKNVibes views on the night’s performance.

One young lady said the lineup was a good one but most of the performances disappointed her. She however noted that she enjoyed Demarco.

Another female said Black Ryno was a waste of time, but added that she hopes he was free.

A couple indicated that Konshens was great but he should have been given a longer time onstage.

The show ended after 3:00 a.m.

The festival continues tonight with the final show that will feature Jah Cure, The Commodores, Fantasia and East Meets West.
