Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, Prime Minister of St. Kitts & Nevis

Approximately 680 acres of Government land, divided into plots throughout the island, will be made for sale to residents at a cost of EC$ 5 per square foot.

The disclosure came during Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Denzil Douglas’ press conference at Government Headquarters, on July 31st.
The Prime Minister indicated that it is high time that residents, especially middle income persons, be able to own a “piece of the rock.”
“We want people to own lands and in the same instance we want to empower our young people,” Prime Minister Douglas said.
Additionally, he indicated that his Government is presently having discussions with the banks throughout the island in the hope of convincing them not to request a down payment for land purchase.
He was quick to underscore that the land will be sold to “bankable” people- on the advice of the bank. If the land cannot be purchased within six months, it will be sold to someone else who could handle the cost.   ~~Adz:Right~~
This land arrangement fall under the Department of Lands and Surveys and forms are already available for interested persons.
It is being held under the theme “Empowerment: Wealth Creation Through Land Distribution.”
