BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A Dominican Republic national was on Tuesday (July 3) unanimously found guilty of incest, an act he is said to have committed on his daughter.
Rafael Adames, having been charged with incest, his trial began on Monday (July 2) for the offence that was committed on August 27, 2010.
According to the evidence presented in Court, the 47-year-old had committed incest on his daughter on numerous occasions and had often told her that she is pretty and that she belonged to him only.
It was also revealed that Adames told the then 17-year-old girl that he would rent a house and put her to live in it because he wanted children from her and that she was not to say anything to anyone.
Adames was unrepresented at trial and, when given the opportunity, did not testify or call witnesses to give evidence on his behalf.
He is expected to appear before Justice Errol Thomas for sentencing sometime later in the Assizes following a Social Inquiry Report.
