Children of St. Kitts – Ready to Go!

By: Seventh-day Adventist Church, Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, October 9th, 2012   --  The Seventh-day Adventist Church believes that children play an important part in the evangelism process ---- they are never too young to share the love of Jesus in child-like ways. Keeping this in mind, Seventh-day Adventist churches on the island of St. Kitts celebrated Children’s Sabbath on Saturday, October 6 in each individual district.

Under the theme, “Ready to Go”, the children’s Sabbath program demonstrated to the members and visiting friends that the children are empowered to sharing the gospel of Jesus.

The morning’s service showcased the talents and gifts of the children highlighting that they been called to service. Through dramatic presentations, buoyant songs, and poetry recital, the children, ranging from 0 – 12 years, demonstrated that they are “ready to go” spread the gospel of Jesus in their homes, schools and at play.

In addition to the special service held in the morning, the entire Seventh-day Adventist family participated in a march of witness which was lead by the children who excitedly proclaimed through chants and placard messages how much they love Jesus! Community and church members witnessed firsthand how the Seventh-day Adventist children of St. Kitts are ready to share the good news about Jesus with children and adults in the community. Additionally, two young evangelists under the age of 12, Vegale Rubaine and J’mar Liburd, preached dynamic sermonettes at Independence Square and at Westbourne Ghaut, Basseterre.

Children’s Ministries Coordinator of the island, Mrs. Valerie Dolphin, indicated that the Children’s Ministries department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church will continue to teach the children of the Saviour who loves boys and girls and lead them to become the individuals who God has called them to be.

“Research has shown that the foundational years of children (birth – 8 years) are critical; therefore the teachings and instructions given to them during this period are of utmost importance. The Children’s Ministries department and by extension the church, is on the right path by providing opportunities for our children to experience the teachings and instructions of God in a real way.

This is certainly laying a sound spiritual foundation just as Proverbs 22: 6 has advised. (Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.) By God’s grace the Pastors, Elders, Children’s Ministries staff and parents will continue to harmonize our resources to develop our children’s spiritual well being.”

Children’s Sabbath is a yearly program celebrated by Seventh-day Adventists worldwide. The day affirms the existence and importance of children in the church and it promotes awareness of children’s needs both in the church and in the community.
