The Right Honourable Prime Minister and Hon Marcella Liburd Mark the Observance of International Men’s Day

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, 19th November 2012:  The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister and the Hon. Minister with responsibility for Gender Affairs, Marcella Liburd worshipped at the Half-Way Tree Church of God on November 18th. Also in attendance were Ms. Sharon Rattan, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs and Senior Gender Field Office, Mrs. Celia Christopher. 

     

    This service marked the commencement of a week of activities planned for the observance of International Men’s Day under the theme, “Helping Men and Boys to Live Longer, Happier and Healthier Lives.

     

    The church men’s group, the Mountain Movers, took centre stage and led the service with two beautiful renditions and the young boys in the church confidently recited poems and sang.  An inspirational and uplifting sermon was delivered by Pastor Deslyn Belle Watson. 

     

    The Hon. Marcella Liburd bought words of appreciation and encouragement to all the men in the various communities.  Minister Liburd wholeheartedly thanked the church for partnering with the Ministry in observing International Men’s Day. 

     

    The church service was the first activity for the upcoming week of activities. Other activities include:

     

    • Presentation to schools and workplaces

     

    • Presentations on several radio stations

     

    • Friday 23rd November, Men’s Health Check Point at corner of Princess and Fort Streets
