SCASPA reports increase in passenger arrivals, flights in May

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 25th 2013 (CUOPM) -  The St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) is reporting increases in passenger arrivals and departures at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts for the month of May this year compared to the same period last year.

     

    Figures from SCASPA’s Department of Finance & Statistics indicate that 11,074 passengers arrived in May 2013 compared to 9,970, an increase of 1,104 passengers, an increase of 11.07 percent.
     
    The department is also reporting a 6.74 percent increase in passenger departures, up 9,863, in May this year, compared to 9,240 passengers in May 2012. 
     
    American Airlines, which operates 11 flights per week from Miami International and New York’s JFK International continues to be the leading passenger carrier into St. Kitts’ Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport.
     
    SCASPA disclosed that American Airlines brought in 5,671 passengers on 49 flights in May.
     
    The second leading carrier was LIAT with 3,478 passengers from 182 flights, followed by British Airways with 651 passengers on 8 flights.
     
    SCASPA’s Department of Finance and Statistics reported that next in line was Delta Air with 510 passengers from four flights; US Airways, 387 passengers from four flights, WINAIR, 102 passengers from 39 flights and a Miami Air charter with 98 passengers from 2 flights.
     
    Trans Anguilla brought in 61 passengers on four flights and Angilla Air, 16 passengers on 9 flights.
     
    Flights into the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport increased 8.87 percent in May this year compared to the same month in 2012, up 41 from 463 to 503. Flights out also increased 8.86 percent in May this year compared to May last year, moving from 463 in 2012 to 504 in 2013.
