Zinga Imo places second in Miss Carival Pageant

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FROM a field of 10 contestants, Miss St. Kitts-Nevis, 18-year-old Zinga Imo made the Federation proud on Friday night (Jun. 28) when she was adjudged First Runner-up in the prestigious Miss Carival Pageant hosted in St. Vincent.

     

    Information gleaned from DominicaNewsOnline.com revealed that Miss Dominica Leslassa Armour-Shillingford was crowned Queen while Miss St. Vincent and the Grenadines Shara George placed Second Runner-up.

    The Pageant was one of the many events slated for St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ annual National Carnival festivity, Vincy Mas, which started on the same day with the Pageant and is expected to climax on Tuesday (Jul. 9).

    In addition to the crown, Armour-Shillingford won the awards for Best Talent, Best Evening Wear and Best Interview as well as Miss Photogenic.

    George captured the Best Swimsuit award.

    Prize details for Miss Carival was found on www.virginislandsnewsonline.com, which revealed that prizes for the Pageant are: first place - US$4 300, second place - US$1 300 and third place- US$ 700, among other incentives.

    Miss Dominica emerged First Runner-up in the Miss Caribbean World Pageant which was held in Tortola, BVI in May.

    Miss Dominican Republic Rosa Emelia Martinez Javier won the other two awards - Most Community Spirited and Miss Congeniality.
     
    Zinga, who is the reigning St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival Queen, was chaperoned by her sister, 25-year-old Fatisha Imo, who placed First Runner-up in that particular pageant in 2007 and is a popular face in other past pageants.

    Yesterday, Zinga posted a thank you note on her official Face Book fan page.

    “I will like to officially thank my sponsors The St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla National Bank Ltd, The 
    National Carnival Committee, my talent team Alphonso Henry and Nekirah Nicholls, my interview team Mr. Val Henry and Mr. Freddy Knight, Costume maker, Mr. Jeffery Joseph, ZIZ, the rest of my entire A Team, my mother and father, my chaperon, my family, friends and fans for their love and support for Miss Carival 2013.”

    The young beauty expressed pleasure at her recent accomplishment.

    “It was indeed a very stiff competition, as we say, but the judges’ decision is final. I did an awesome job and looking forward to my other upcoming pageants.”

    The other contestants of Miss Carival 2013 were: Miss Barbados Dannyele Teneel Leslie, Miss British Virgin Islands (BVI) Sharie Bianca Ylinda deCastro, Miss Jamaica Kabrena Latoya Robinson, Miss St. Lucia Janelle Desir, Miss St. Vincent & the Grenadines Shara George, Miss Trinidad & Tobago Jenelle Jenny Thongs and Miss Venezuela Yaimer De Los Angeles Armes Macias.
